MATTHEW ROBERT SHIRFIELD

Matthew Robert Shirfield (b.2000) is currently reading for an M.Phil. in History of Art at Trinity College Dublin after graduating first class B.A. (Hons.) in History of Art with Fine Arts from the Department of Art and Art History, University of Malta. His early artistic training began at the Malta Society of Arts among other schools, after which he advanced under several tutors including Ray Pitré, Karl Froman, as well as Professor Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci.

He has expanded his artistic studies in a variety of media throughout his training, including painting, drawing, pottery and clay sculpture. Matthew’s work is found in several private collections both locally and internationally. He has also participated in numerous collective exhibitions, including at the Malta Society of Arts annual members exhibition Perception (2019) and Dante: Il Folle Volo, Vie Smarrite, La Prima Radice (2021).
